Looking ahead to fall...

It's been an exciting and productive summer. As you might have already heard, I released our First Quarter Fiscal Update and Economic Statement just a little over a week ago. The government now forecasts the economy to grow by 3.1 per cent in 2017; up from the budget forecast of 2.6 per cent. Most private and other economic forecasters expect Alberta's growth to lead the provinces this year.

We will continue to have Albertans' backs as we emerge cautiously away from the economic downturn. We continue to be strongly focused on creating jobs, while protecting important services that Albertans depend on and making life more affordable for families.

Families will be feeling these effects this week as the school year officially begins. The parents of nearly 600,000 students will see savings resulting from the elimination or reduction of bussing, supply and material fees. This is one example of how our government is working to lessen financial burdens for Alberta families.

As always if you have questions, please don't hesitate to reply to this email or get in touch with my office.

Thanks for reading!
